Court Hire in Pagewood: Futsal, Squash and Tennis Compared

Court hire Pagewood, compared: prices, booking rules and the small print for futsal, squash and adult tennis at Mutch Park, so you can pick the right option before you book.

Court hire Pagewood: outdoor courts at Mutch Park Tennis + Squash
Court hire Pagewood: futsal, squash and tennis share one Bayside site at Mutch Park.

If you've searched for "court hire Pagewood", you probably landed on a map pin and not much else. Mutch Park Tennis + Squash, at 53 Wentworth Ave, puts futsal, squash and tennis on one Bayside site. That makes it a useful multi-sport court hire option in Sydney's east, but it's worth comparing the options before you book.

Below you'll find what each option costs, how booking works, and the small rules that catch people out. For example, minimum hire lengths, cancellation windows and peak versus off-peak rates all differ between sports.

The Short Answer: Which Option Fits?

Futsal is $85 an hour, with a one-hour minimum and a 12-hour cancellation window. Squash is $40 an hour casual, or $77 a month for a membership if you play regularly, because members play off-peak for free. For adult tennis, Social Tennis on Fridays suits people who can already serve and rally. However, the Thursday clinic suits everyone else, including complete beginners. In short, court hire Pagewood is booked online, and the courts are accessible from 7am to 10pm every day.

Court Hire Pagewood: Futsal Price, Booking and Rules

Futsal court hire at Mutch Park is a flat $85 per hour, and no separate peak rate is listed. Three of the six outdoor courts are marked for futsal. To book, choose your appointment type and duration, pick the date, search, select the time and court, then pay online. A confirmation email follows, and you can book a futsal court here.

Futsal is a five-a-side game played with a smaller, heavier ball that bounces far less than a standard football. As a result, the ball stays on the ground and the game stays quick in a tight space.1 Before you lock in a team night, check these booking rules:

  • 60-minute minimum. Every futsal booking is at least one hour.
  • 12 hours' notice to cancel. You can cancel online or by calling reception, but late cancellations and no-shows are charged for the full booking.
  • Wet weather means a phone call. If the weather turns, call the centre to check the courts. If you don't and the courts were playable, you're still charged. However, when you've given enough notice, or the courts are unplayable, the booking is credited, and that credit lasts three months.
  • Stay inside your booked time. You can't use the court beyond your booking, even if it looks free afterwards. If you want longer, book it online or tell reception in advance.
  • Put the nets back. Because the futsal markings sit on the tennis courts, please return the tennis nets when you finish.
  • No outside coaching. Third-party coaching isn't permitted on site.

Multi-Sport Courts: What's Bookable and What's on Hold

Everything sits on one floodlit site: six outdoor courts (three of them marked for futsal), four glass-backed squash courts, change rooms and off-street parking from Wentworth Avenue and Heffron Road.2 Casual court hire currently covers three sports: tennis, squash and futsal. Also, access is by pin code from 7am to 10pm every day, while reception is staffed Monday to Wednesday, 3pm to 10pm.

Looking for 5-a-side soccer or netball hire? Those are not confirmed as bookable options in this guide, so call (02) 9316 9785 before you plan a game.

Squash Membership in Pagewood: Casual Hire vs Membership

Squash players on court at Mutch Park Tennis + Squash, Pagewood
Four glass-backed squash courts, bookable in blocks of 60 minutes or more.

Mutch Park has four glass-backed squash courts, and you can book them for a minimum of 60 minutes. There are two ways to pay.

Casual hire is $40 an hour at any time of day, with no restrictions. Racquet and ball hire is an extra $5 per person. It's the right call if you're trying squash for the first time or only play now and then.

Membership is $77 a month, billed by direct debit only. It includes:

  • Free court hire off-peak (7am to 4pm Monday to Friday and all day Sunday), in bookings of up to 90 minutes.
  • $24 an hour at peak times (after 4pm on weekdays and all day Saturday).
  • Free Social Squash sessions.
  • 10% off merchandise.

Does membership pay off? It depends on when you play. Here is the maths per court-hour, over a month:

  • Four off-peak hours: $160 casual versus $77 on membership.
  • Four peak hours: $160 casual versus $173 on membership ($77 plus 4 × $24), so casual is cheaper.
  • Six peak hours: $240 casual versus $221 on membership.

In short, membership beats casual hire from about two off-peak hours a month, or about five peak hours. However, those are court prices, so if you'd normally split a casual booking with your opponent, the gap per person is smaller. Ask the team whether a membership also covers a non-member playing partner before you decide.

Social Squash and the Squash Competition

Social Squash runs on Mondays and Wednesdays from 7pm to 9pm across multiple courts. It costs $20 a session or $180 for ten, and it's free for members. Because it's pitched at beginners and above, you can turn up and play or book online.

The squash competition is the step up for regular match play. Seasons run for 13 weeks on Monday nights, and multiple divisions pair you with players of a similar level. Each night includes food, new balls and an on-site administrator, then the season finishes with a party and awards. At last season's published prices, entry was $200 for non-members and $160 for members, which works out to under $17 and under $14 a week. The most recent season began on Monday 2 March 2026, so call (02) 9316 9785 or check the competition page for the next intake.

Social Tennis in Pagewood vs the Thursday Adult Clinic

Adult group tennis clinic at Mutch Park, Pagewood
The Thursday adult clinic: small groups, coached by Tennis Australia accredited coaches.

Adult tennis at Mutch Park covers two different needs, so it helps to know which one you want.

Social Tennis runs every Friday from 6:30pm to 8:30pm and costs $29 a session or $242 for ten. You head to the courts, collect balls and hit with other social players across multiple courts. It's pitched at competition-level beginners and above, so you need to be able to serve and rally. A coach is on hand to offer advice, but it isn't a structured lesson.

The Adult Tennis Clinic runs on Thursdays from 6:45pm to 8:15pm. It's a 90-minute small-group session led by a Tennis Australia accredited coach, and it covers all strokes, technique corrections, court tactics, and both singles and doubles practice. All levels are welcome, including complete beginners. It costs $45 a session, $202.50 for five or $360 for ten. Before you buy a pack, you can also try a free introductory session. Racquets are available to purchase at the venue, and flat-soled shoes are recommended.

The adult program is led by Head Coach Mike Etherington, who has 30 years of coaching experience, including seven abroad, and has been a USPTA certified professional since 1994. He's joined by Samantha Loveridge, who holds Advanced and Development Tennis Coach certifications from the Australasian Academy of Tennis Coaches, and Martina Caliari, a Senior Coaching Professional and former EU semi-professional player.

Which one fits you?

  • ✓You can serve and rally and want regular games: Social Tennis on Fridays.
  • ✓You're new, returning, or want technique feedback: the Thursday clinic, starting with the free introductory session.
  • ✓You'd rather play with your own group: book a tennis court. Off-peak (Monday to Friday, 7am to 5pm) is $32 an hour and peak (after 5pm and weekends) is $38, with a 60-minute minimum and free cancellation up to 12 hours before.

Bringing the family? Mutch Park also runs kids tennis through Tennis Australia's Hot Shots program, and your child can book a free trial lesson before you commit.

Common Booking Mistakes to Avoid

  1. 1
Booking futsal for less than an hour. It isn't possible, because the 60-minute minimum applies to every booking.
  2. 2
Cancelling inside the 12-hour window and expecting a credit. Instead, late cancellations and no-shows are charged for the booked duration.
  3. 3
Skipping the weather call. If the courts are playable and you didn't check, you'll still be charged.
  4. 4
Assuming membership always beats casual hire. If you only play at peak times, you need about five hours a month before it pays off.
  5. 5
Turning up to Social Tennis as a first-timer. Because you need to be able to serve and rally, the Thursday clinic is the better start for beginners.
  6. 6
Bringing your own coach to a hired court. Third-party coaching isn't permitted on site.
